Tips for your visit to the grooming salon

Read how best to prepare your dog or cat for a visit to the grooming salon. Practical tips for a calm and safe grooming session at Bricks&Broks.

A grooming session at the salon

For many dogs and cats, a visit to the grooming salon is a new or exciting experience. With good preparation, you can ensure that the grooming session is as calm and pleasant as possible.

Below you will find some simple tips to prepare your pet well.

Walk your dog before the appointment

Before coming to the grooming salon, it's important that your dog has a good walk or a chance to relieve themselves.

A dog that has just been walked will be calmer on the table and can relax better during grooming.

Preferably do not give a large meal just before the appointment

A full stomach can make a dog feel less comfortable during the treatment.

A small snack is fine, but it's best to give a large meal after the grooming session.

Arrive on time for your appointment

To ensure our schedule runs smoothly, we ask you to be on time.

When an appointment starts later than planned, this can affect the schedule for subsequent animals.

Bring your dog on a leash

For the safety of all animals in the salon, we ask that dogs always be brought in on a leash.

Cats should preferably be transported in a closed carrier.

Keep goodbyes short and calm

Many dogs react to their owner's emotions.

A short and calm goodbye helps your dog to relax more quickly during the treatment.

When owners hesitate or prolong their goodbyes, this can actually make the animal more agitated.

Report important information in advance

Please let us know in advance if your dog or cat:

• has medical problems

• is sensitive in certain areas

• is anxious during grooming

• has previously shown aggressive behavior

This way, we can better adapt the treatment to the animal.

Regular maintenance makes it easier

Dogs that regularly visit the grooming salon and are well-maintained at home usually experience much less stress during grooming.

A well-maintained coat also ensures that:

• the treatment proceeds faster

• the coat remains healthier

• tangles and skin problems are prevented

Do you have any doubts?

If you have doubts about:

• how often your dog needs to be groomed

• how to maintain the coat at home

• which treatment is most suitable

Then you can always contact us. We are happy to advise you so that the grooming of your dog or cat goes as pleasantly as possible.
